The beautifully crafted Sony’s flagship smartphone Xperia Z2 has topped the latest DxOMark rankings based on the overall performance of its camera. It has displaced Nokia 808 Pureview from the top spot in DxOMark’s combined still image and video quality mobile rankings.

Xperia Z2 achieved DxOMark Mobile score of 79 points, going 2 points ahead of Nokia 808 Pureview’s 77 points.  These two are followed by Sony Xperia Z1, Apple iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy S4 in that order.


Sony Xperia Z2 has a 20.7 MP resolution camera with upgraded movie capabilities over its predecessor Z1. The Xperia Z2 score for still image is 81. In the benchmarking tests, Z2 showed higher performance with its autofocus, indoor/outdoor color & detail preservation and low noise levels.

The video score of Xperia Z2 is 73, slightly less but still impressive. Video performance displayed good stabilization and texture reproduction as well as low noise levels. It however showed unpredictable autofocus, certain white balance inaccuracies and visible color shading.
