Samsung Galaxy S5 mini has been constant in the rumor grate for quite a while, but recently we are able to see the real treaty. We got high-res live pictures of the S5 mini plus a comparison shot with its bigger Galaxy S5 sibling from a reliable Samsung tipster.
The images are showing that a device looks distinctly like the full-sized Galaxy S5, with a soft touch back panel, chrome accents, fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor. The tipster indicates that the device is certainly IP67 dust- and water-resistant, though there’s no flap over the USB port like its counterpart. On the internals, we are expecting a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display 720p display, and an Exynos 3 Quad (3470) 1.4GHz processor. It will also feature a 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage and an 8MP camera. It will include a Gorilla Glass 3 screen protection and will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with the latest available TouchWiz UX that premiered on the Galaxy S5.
The source also shared some screenshots of the AnTuTu app that gives insights into the device’s internal workings.Galaxy S5 Mini is boasting the same unique features that came with its bigger sibling, like a fingerprint sensor, Private Mode, Ultra Power Saving Mode, Kids Mode, KNOX, among others. It provides connectivity options like LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, IR Blaster, NFC, GPS with A-GPS support and GLONASS and MicroUSB port.
The date of the Galaxy S5 Mini’s reveal is still a mystery. While Samsung does have an upcoming Galaxy Premiere event tomorrow, all signs point towards a more tablet-centric affair. There is still a possibility that the manufacturer would also announce the smaller sibling of Galaxy S5, so we will be keeping our eyes peeled for any hint of that happening on June 12.
