After announcing its budget smartphone Xperia E3 at the IFA 2014 in September this year, Sony is reportedly working on its successor, the Xperia E4. A Polish website Teleguru has come out with a few pictures supposed to be those of the Sony Xperia E4 prototype, E2105.
The Xperia E4 will come in two variants – Single SIM (model no. E2105) and Dual SIM (model no. E2115). The pictures do not show the Sony logo as they have been hidden by a sticker. The two devices had first appeared in the Indonesian Postel site some days ago as can be seen in the following image:
The images show Xperia E4 to have thinner bezels and rounded corners compared to E3 and it is also slightly larger with 5-inch QHD (540 x 960p resolution) display. The Xperia E3 has a 4.5-inch screen with a resolution of 480 x 960p. The E4 will be powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor and Mali-400 MP4 GPU. It will have 1GB of RAM and run Android 4.4.4 Kitkat which will be later upgraded to 5.0 Lollipop. The backside of the handset will be made of textured hard plastic giving it a good grip. All in all, it looks like a nice budget phone.
The Xperia E4 has got an An Tu Tu score of 17,857 as can be seen in the following picture:
According to the source, Sony will launch Xperia E4 at the Mobile World Congress in March 2015 to be held in Barcelona and release the same in markets by the end of March. The price is rumored to be around $200.
