The Oppo R1 a sleek, dual-SIM smart-phone was launched last year and worked on MediaTek chipset. But, the company has now decided to bring out a new and updated version of phone that comes out with Snapdragon chipset. This new model has been certified by the Chinese wireless authority- Tenaa.Apart from the new chipset, there are a few enhancements in the R1.
Supposedly named as Oppo R1S, the phone has a 5″ TFT screen with 720p resolution or 294 ppi, just like the R1. It has slender dimensions of 142.7 x 70.4 x 7.1mm and light weight of only 136g. The quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU clocked at 1.6GHz and 2GB RAM instead of just 1GB makes it more powerful. The software has also been upgraded to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean from R1’s 4.2 Jelly Bean. Manufacturers have used a Snapdragon chipset (400 MSM8926) this time in place of Mediatek that supports both global and Chinese LTE. The new chipset and latest android version will surely enhance swift updating of software and better features.
In addition to this, the camera has also been updated to 13MP from R1’s 8MP. Videos up to 1080p video can be recorded. However, the information whether its dual-sim or not is in haze at the moment.
