Xperia Z2, Sony’s flagship smartphone, has been launched recently in Singapore and seems to be facing some teething problems. The users complain that there is a small gap in chassis between the front panel of the phone and the aluminum frame. It is more noticeable on the top right hand side of the handset. Also, the gap appears more prominent in white models of the Xperia Z2. This is a serious issue because it is a water-resistant model the owners are worried that water may seep inside through the gap and damage it.

A user has posted on the Singapore Hardwarezone forum, “Has anyone got the same misalignment of the front glass panel? If you see the top right, there is actually a gap which is not apparent present on the left side.”

This Xperia Z2 gap issue has come to the notice of Sony Singapore and it has released an official statement saying, “We are aware of some users’ concern on the waterproofing capability of the Xperia Z2 due to the presence of gap(s) and are currently looking into this issue. In the meantime, users who wish to [sic] may bring their Xperia Z2 to any service center to have our staff conduct a water resistant test.”

The second issue plaguing Xperia Z2 is that the handset gets overheated while recording a 4K video. As a result, the camera app shuts down suddenly in the midst of the recording and the user has to wait till the device has cooled down.

Sony Singapore is aware of this issue too and has made the following statement regarding it:

“We are aware of some users encountering issues when shooting 4K video for extended periods. Shooting movies in high quality 4K resolution can make significant demands on your phone’s processor and battery life, as well as phone memory. Therefore for the best experience, we recommend you install a high capacity SD card (Xperia Z2 can take a card up to 128GB) and shoot 4K video in short bursts of no longer than a few minutes at a time.”

Hopefully, Sony will be able to take care of both the problems soon before the Xperia Z2’s launch in other areas. Sony Xperia Z2 boasts of 5.2” shatter-proof & scratch-proof display, 20.7MP rear camera, 3GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 801 quad core processor and is one of the top Android phones available in the market.
