As said earlier, Chinese handset manufacturer Xiaomi has today officially announced its new affordable flagship the Xiaomi Mi 4i which comes with some very reasonable specs at affordable pricing. Today at an event in New Delhi – India, Xiaomi executive Hugo Barra unveiled this new flagship which comes in a plastic body with several color options. The “i” in the 4i stands for India as the phone has been designed by gaining inspiration from the country and its culture and is said to be made available in India, at least initially.

Before we get into the details, here is a quick look at the specs of the device. The Xiaomi Mi 4i comes with a 5inch Sharp/JDI display with full HD resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. To its heart lies the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core chipset supported with 2Gb of RAM memory and 16GB of internal storage. The device would be running the Android 5.0 Lollipop on-board skinned the company’s own MIUI 6. To its back is the 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual-tone flash. The front hosts a 5MP camera with f/1.8 lens. The device comes with a polycarbonate wrap-around body. The battery capacity is huge to 3120mAh.

Moving to the details of its hardware, this is the second generation Snapdragon 615 chipset with a 64-bit support having four higher clocked Cortex A53 cores up to 1.7GHz and other four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.1GHz giving better efficiency. The camera now is more improved and better with HDR mode and the new camera sensor has got automatic gamma tuning, low-light de-noising and color correction.

The good thing is that the physical size of the battery has been reduced than that of the Mi4 and the battery capacity has been increased. The company has also added support for the quicker charging of the Mi 4i with a 5V 2A charger charging 40% of the handset in just an hour.

The excellent thing is that the handset is priced for just INR 12,999 ($200). The handset registrations have already started with the first expected sales taking place on April 30th next week. Take a look at the official video and all the official images of the handset below.
