From the list, it is clear that Xiaomi’s not just one but two models Hongmi Redrice and the MI 3 have grabbed a noticing seventh and tenth position in the list. However, Xiaomi sells these products only in China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Peter Richardson from Counterpoint said “At the global level there has been little brand diversity over recent months. However the appearance of Xiaomi on the best sellers list highlights an increasing trend – local brands moving up the sales rankings in their respective countries. It’s a consequence of commoditization of hardware and software. Provided the price is sufficiently attractive, consumers are willing to try local brands over the higher profile global brands.”
Taking a quick look at thespecs for both devices, the Hongmi Redrice sports a 4.7” 720p IPS display and a Gorilla Glass 2. It hosts a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6589 Cortex-A7 processor and PowerVR SGX544 GPU, 1GB RAM, 4GB storage and 2000mAh of battery. Whereas the MI 3 is company’s premium range device and comes with a 1080p IPS display.
The recently released Xiaomi Redmi Note is making much news due to its excellent features and is selling like hot-cakes in the market. The company target a sell of 60 million devices this year and this news has certainly added a feather to Xiaomi’s cap.
