Sony Xperia Z4 is yet to arrive but we already have rumors about the next flagship in line, the Xperia Z5 along with its siblings, the Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Ultra. Although the Xperia Z4 hasn’t been announced yet, we know almost everything about it through the numerous leaks. Now we have details about Sony Xperia Z5 through a “trusted source”.
A report published by Android Origin says that even though Sony has delayed the announcement of its new flagship, the Xperia Z4 which is expected to be introduced in mid-summer this year, the Japanese tech giant will be unveiling a second flagship, the Xperia Z5 in Q4 along with Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Ultra. This puts to rest the rumors that Sony will be announcing only one flagship this year.
The Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Ultra will apparently be powered by Snapdragon 820 SoC. It is not known what chipset the Xperia Z5 Compact will carry. Rumor says that if the Snapdragon 820 processor is not available in time, the launch of the Xperia Z5 series may be pushed back to January 2016.
The report also says that Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra will feature a fingerprint scanner based on Qualcomm’s new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor technology announced recently. Thus, Xperia Z5 Ultra will become the first Sony device to have a fingerprint sensor but the Xperia Z5 allegedly won’t have it.
Coming to the specs, all the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Ultra handsets will sport Quad HD displays unlike the Xperia Z4 where only some select markets will get the handset with QHD displays, while the rest will get the 1080p variant. Both the new Z5 devices will have 4GB RAM and new cameras but still without OIS. It seems Sony will take one or two years more to bring Optical Image Stabilization to its Xperia smartphones.
It is also rumored that Sony is going to introduce the Xperia Z5 line sporting an entirely new look, not the same OmniBalance design Sony has been using since long for its flagships.
So are you excited about the all-new-look Sony Xperia Z5 series?
