Sony’s latest flagship smartphone Xperia Z2 is set to launch in UK on May 1. The phone was announced by Sony way back in February but so far it had a limited release. Other releases were delayed owing to stock shortages and the official launch for UK has been pushed back to May 1. However, the pre-orders will be shipped and delivered in time. In fact, in the next week itself.
Some of the key retailers in UK will start shipping the pre-orders for Xperia Z2 from next week, although no specific date has been mentioned. So it remains to be seen if the devices will be delivered on Monday, April 14, or sometime later in the week.
The 2 largest UK retailers Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U have confirmed that they will begin shipping the pre-orders next week. Both of them are offering the Xperia Z2 with a carrier agreement of only 2 years.
Customers who have pre-ordered the Xperia Z2 at Carphone Warehouse are likely to get £100 cash back. Against this, Phone4U is offering £119 worth Sony’s SRS-BTX300 wireless speaker and £80 worth of Sony content that includes music, games and 6 movies. Owners will also be able to download the new album of Michael Jackson through the Xperia Lounge app from May 13.
Another UK retailer, Clove is also offering the Xperia Z2 on pre-order for £540 with the same £119 worth Sony wireless speaker and digital content worth £80 free. Clove is also offering Sony MDR-NC31EM noise-cancelling headphones for the 1st stock of Xperia Z2, but it will be available only in the middle of May.
So it looks like UK buyers won’t be affected by Xperia Z2 stock shortages. However, Canada will get them in May only. Sony Xperia Z2 is scheduled to be launched in Hong Kong and certain other countries in June and US is not even on the radar yet.
