Sony seems to be working on a mini-variant for its flagship model Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone because some photos from a company’s brochure have leaked and they seem to be that of the new Xperia Compact model. This Compact model will be the Sony Xperia A2 and will be available in multiple colors including White, Grey-Black, Orange and Lavender.
Sony had earlier released Xperia Z1 Compact, a mini- handset variant of its Xperia Z1 in which the screen size was reduced from 5” to 4.3”, the resolution was decreased from 1080 x 1920 to 720 x 1280 and the 3000mAh battery was replaced by a 2300mAh one.
Other components like the quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM and the 20.7MP rear-facing camera were kept intact in the Compact version. This Xperia Z1 Compact had quite a few takers, preferring it over the normal Xperia Z1 model.
The recently leaked photos reveal that Sony is preparing to bring out the Compact variant of the Xperia Z2. The specs revealed in the leaked photos include its dimensions of 128mm × 65mm × 9.6mm, a 4.3” 720 x 1280 display, a 2.2 GHz Quad core Snapdragon 800 or 801 processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The back is reportedly made of plastic similar to that of Xperia Z1 Compact.
The brochure also has the photo of Sony Xperia Z2 that will probably be available in Japan via Docomo from June this year.
