Sharp has announced its new AQUOS Crystal handset which comes with a 5” edgeless display. Yes. Its right as the smartphone is considered to have no sides with only top bezels. The handset actual measures 5 inches in height and 2.6 inches in width and is very compact that can be compared to the Moto G. With this, the AQUOS Crystal is considered to offer the best screen-to-body ratio with 78.21% of the front occupied by display.

Looking to its specs, the handset offers a 5” display with 720p resolution and is LTE capable powered with quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz. The display of the device is made with Sharp’s IGZO technology that makes some very efficient use of its battery juice. The device hosts a 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and runs the latest available Android 4.4.2 KitKat on-board. The battery capacity of the device is 2040mAh. The Sharp AQUOS Crystal comes with Harmon Kardon sound effects in headset mode supporting “Clar-Fi” to restore the lost information in compression, “LiveStage” streaming and native compatibility with Harmon Kardon ONYX Studio Bluetooth speakers. The Sharp AQUOS Crystal is available on a two-year-contract for $149.00 on prepaid with Virgin or Boost. The handset will release in USA next week on August 29th and the pre-orders for it have already started. However, for people not willing to have it on Sprint, can grab it for an MSRP of just $239.99.
The handset being a product of Sharp-SoftBank collaboration, Sprint will inherit a service called App Pass to its AQUOS Crystal. This is specifically a premium app renting option adding $4.99/month to the bill. This service will offer apps like OfficeSuite 7 Pro, Camera Zoom FX, Minuum Keyboard, Color and Draw for Kids, CamScanner as well games from the much famous Gameloft. In all, what we can say is that is that the AQUOS Crystal is certainly an excellent handset with superior features at a very reasonable price.
