Some of the recent reports from The Guardian, Nikolai Nikiforov, Minister of Russian Telecoms and Mass Communications announced that officials from the Russian government have started looking for a possible replacement of iPads by Samsung tablets because of some security reasons.


Nikiforov raised doubts regarding security breach by the products from US companies saying “American special services… will significantly increase the volume of information they intercept (which) of course causes serious concern to many governmental clients.” He further added the reason for his choice of Samsung’s tablet stating “specially protected devices that can be used to work with confidential information. Some of the information at government meetings is confidential in nature and these devices fully meet these demands and have gone through the strictest system of certification.” Earlier, Edward Snowden, former CIA employee and NSA contractor had revealed NSA’s secret massive surveillance program.

Earlier reports from 2008 document had claimed NSA to be having a back door entry to iPhones. There were also reports of NSA having almost 100% success rate for malware installations in iPhones, though Apple had denied of any such happenings.

Now this could be the recently brought Samsung’s KNOX security feature could have been one of the reasons that led Russian government to consider their tablets.
