Yesterday at the Microsoft BUILD conference, Microsoft unveiled its new windows Phone 8.1 that hosts couple of new features and additional improvements brought to the new OS. Lets us check out some of its features.

Cortana personal digital assistant

Windows Phone is all set to give out tough competition to Apple’s Sire and Android Google Now feature and has pitched its own Cortana against it. Cortana is Bing powered and caters to information like reminders, clap people, calendar events, gives information about your places of visit and serves you as your personal virtual assistant. Users can get access to Cortana through the Search key along with voice recognition where Cortana allows users to search the web as well!

Cortana will also provide users with custom notifications depending on your usage data and personal information. Initially at launch, Foursquare and Bing will offer the Cortana feature for events and places which will be later by other online services soon.

Action Center

Action Center is basically a dedicated notification center for Windows Phone 8.1 that lets users customize quick setting toggles that includes location settings, brightness adjustment, rotation locks, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth among others. There is an included notification drawer giving you information of notifications like missed calls, text messages, emails and Cortana notifications too.

Low-end CPU support

Microsoft has ensured that the Windows Phone 8.1 is now just for high-end devices but also for lower-end CPU like the Snapdragon 200 and Snapdragon 400. This means that there are higher possibilities of Windows Phone 8.1 appearing on low end devices ahead in future.
