Recently a spokesperson from LG Electronics finally drew the cover from the rumored news and said that the company will “soon” will soon start the mass production of its chip code-named Odin. This Soc will be mass produced at Taiwan’s TSMC featuring an original LG ARM-based design. Not much information for the chipset has been revealed but it seems it would be an octa-core processor with four Cortex A7 cores clocked at 1.7GHz and four Cortex A15 cores at 2.2GHz. The GPU will be Imagination Technology’s most powerful PowerVR Series 6 representative.
The report that comes from The Korea Herald shows that LG G3 could be the first device to come up with this chipset. There are very much possibilities that the Odin chip based LG G3 could be launched only in hometown whereas the global variant receives Snapdragon 801/805. The Odin CPU could also be seen in low and mid-range device but they getting the same octa-core configuration is bit skeptical.
