During 2014, people were hearing different news and speculations that HTC is going to launch its smartwatch soon. The first ever speculation was that HTC will make the announcement of three wearables at MWC 2014; however, that did happen. The second time was when people started to hear that the HTC wearable is going to be round just like Motorola Moto 360. After some time, there was a leaked news that it will be totally square in shape. Later on, there was another rumor that the company will formally launch the gadget in September, and HTC even launched a promo video for publicity. Most people believed that it was just a coincidental shot that made people believe a smartwatch is going to be launched soon. HTC denied this, but there was no wearable announced later on either. There was another twist when leakster @evleaks disclosed that HTC has decided to call off its plan for launching a smartwatch because of tough competition with companies like Motorola, Samsung and LG.
That is not all; HTC is keeping people in continuous suspense. The company’s new poster for this year’s MWC event says “Utopia in progress”. This is making everyone curious that what exactly HTC is up to. Everyone is eager to know what product they are going to see in the mega exhibition of this year.
Bloomberg, that seems to be well-informed about this matter, has provided some more information about HTC’s future plans. The news is that HTC is not only going to introduce a grand smartphone but also a smartwatch. There are reports that the smartwatch is going to be related with the fitness services of Under Armour Inc. What is really interesting is that HTC actually did mention something about a joint venture with a sports-oriented company earlier this month. There were some hints about the launching of fitness wearables. No matter what product is launched later, there is no clarity whether it is going to be a smartwatch or just a tracking band.
