It seems like the HTC M8 Prime will never be released. More importantly, it looks like HTC is planning to release a Prime version of its next flagship smartphone, the M9. The HTC M9 seems to be a direct successor to the HTC One (m8). HTC M9 Prime will probably be launched as HTC One (m9). HTC M9 Prime is expected to use much of what was originally planned for the HTC One (m8) Prime in terms of internal hardware and design.

The information that HTC has suspended development of the HTC One (m8) Prime also came from @evleaks. According to the leaked information, the prime will continue live in the form of the HTC One (m8).

@evleaks has revealed that HTC M9 and HTC M9 Prime are planned to be released in the first quarter of 2015. Surprisingly enough, the M9 Prime seems to be planned for an early release, ahead of the HTC M9. What if that were to actually happen. What will HTC offer with the regular M9 for people to buy it later?

We expect the HTC M9 to be a faster phone but we don’t have any details on what its specification will be. The design will probably not stray too far from the design of other HTC devices. Some concept designs of the HTC M9 and M9 Prime are appearing online but they don’t look the part.

For now the One M8 Prime seems to have been cancelled. It was rumored to have a 5.5 inch screen with a Quad HD resolution, Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, and LTE. It was also rumored to contain a waterproof composite chassis and other features.
