The current Google Glass functions with only one lens and no dual lens. However it looks there will be an upgraded version to with lens on both sides based on the patent filed by Google. It’s a patent for a Glass with two micro projectors on both sides. It’s a concept and there are only very limited information available at the moment. There is no clear visibility on Google’s actual plan of producing the particular product based on the patent; Either it could be an addition of lens to existing Google Glass which will improves its functionality and capability or all together a new product will be launched. But it’s been said that there are further improvement being done to the existing product which is good news.
Lens covering both eyes could provide HUD (Head-Up Display) experience for the users. The feature is not available on the existing Google Glass product. The filed patent also covers additional scope which covers not only the dual lens for glass but also to adjust the color scheme and transparency of the device on the basis of background, it’s a real good stuff to have in the Google Glass.
The filed patent could be something to do with Google’s lab project and a new product might not be released in the near future or for a long time. The Google is working on many lab projects and new technologies, also files patents now and then to use developed new technologies in their products. The whole news has spread across just based on the recent patent filing done by Google. So we don’t have enough information about Google’s next move to get more excited about the double lens patent for glass. But one thing is obvious that Google is working on its new project in the Glass concept.
