The largest US carrier has been selected to offer the Developer Edition of the latest released Galaxy S5 that comes with an unlocked bootloader. The Developer Edition has been listed on Samsung website but no price or release date for the device has been announced yet but the handset could come some around for $649.
The only difference between the original edition and the Developer edition is that the latter comes with an unlocked bootloader making it easy to root, flash the custom ROM and make other modifications to the device. So people who are quite enthusiastic to tweak their device, this will be a good option for them. However, they are unlikely to get the software updates as easily as for the original version. The developer Edition will be available only in Charcoal Black color and no other choice is available.
Interested people can straight away buy the device from Samsung website here or can even wait a bit more for the Google Play Edition running stock Android.
